1920 FLYER CO/LI TWILL
BIG YANK | 1920 FLYER CO/LI TWILL
The 1920 FLYER CO/LI TWILL is a special model that combines the iconic design of BIG YANK’s renowned 1935 SHIRT with authentic details inspired by workwear from the 1920s. Blending heritage craftsmanship with modern wearability, it captures the evolution of American work shirts through one thoughtfully constructed garment.
At the heart of the design is BIG YANK’s signature asymmetric pocket configuration, commonly known as the “Gacha Pocket.” The left chest features a convenient utility pocket, while the right chest incorporates an elongated pocket with a dedicated pen slot. This distinctive layout reflects the practical needs of early twentieth-century workers while remaining one of the brand’s most recognizable design elements.
Period-correct details further enhance the garment’s authenticity. A classic chin strap allows the collar fit to be adjusted while adding vintage character. The back is constructed with a strain-proof yoke designed to reduce tension across the shoulders when reaching forward, improving comfort and mobility. Storm cuffs at the sleeves eliminate traditional sleeve plackets, offering increased ease of movement and a safer, more practical design for work environments.
The fabric is a cotton-linen twill that combines a dry, breathable touch with a subtle natural luster. Over time, the material softens and develops additional character, creating a rich patina unique to each wearer.
Finishing details such as lightweight aluminum buttons and contrasting green stitching on the buttonholes reflect BIG YANK’s dedication to historical accuracy and craftsmanship. Every element has been carefully considered to honor the spirit of vintage workwear.
