The 1937 DIAMOND is a classic work shirt first introduced by BIG YANK in the 1930s.
It faithfully reproduces the original design, featuring a relaxed silhouette and an extended front hem that stays neatly tucked during work. This balance of ease of movement and functional beauty captures the essence of workwear from that era.
Its signature feature is the four eyelets arranged in a diamond pattern on the back, which inspired the shirt’s name. These provide ventilation while adding a distinctive visual element.
The chest pockets are asymmetrical “gacha-pockets.” The left pouch-style pocket was designed to protect untaxed paper-wrapped cigarettes from sweat and moisture, reflecting practical needs of the 1930s. The right pocket includes a vertical pen slot to improve usability during work.
The cuffs are made with “storm cuffs,” eliminating the traditional placket to prevent snagging during machine work, enhancing safety. The back is fitted with a “strain proof yoke” that disperses tension during movement to reduce stress, offering a perfect blend of durability and comfort.
Made from indigo selvedge chambray fabric, the shirt develops a unique patina and texture over time, rewarding long-term wear with character and charm.
