BIG YANK | 1942 PLAID FLANNEL SHIRT

The 1942 PLAID FLANNEL SHIRT from BIG YANK is a faithful reproduction of a 1940s classic, featuring the brand’s signature five-sided “mountain pocket” on the left chest. This distinctive detail combines strong visual presence with practical utility and has become an enduring symbol of BIG YANK’s heritage. A metal button at the tip adds durability and a rugged accent.

On the right side, a gusseted convenient pocket creates the asymmetrical "gacha-poke" layout. This design originated from functional thinking in the 1940s and is a hallmark of authentic American workwear. The mountain pocket itself was originally developed to protect paper cigarettes from sweat and moisture before film wrapping was common, and its structure was officially trademarked in 1942.

Other functional features include storm cuffs, designed to reduce snagging during manual work, and the strain-proof yoke at the back, which eases tension when bending forward. These thoughtful elements enhance both safety and comfort for long hours of wear.

The shirt is made from a soft brushed flannel fabric that offers excellent warmth and a gentle feel against the skin. Ideal for layering during cooler seasons, it combines timeless utility with enduring comfort.
