The 1952 CHAMBRAY faithfully recreates a classic BIG YANK work shirt from the early 1950s. Reflecting the transition toward mass-produced workwear, it incorporates practical details that highlight the functional evolution of the era while preserving BIG YANK's signature craftsmanship.
As filter cigarettes became increasingly popular in the United States during the early 1950s, chest pockets were redesigned with a larger capacity to improve storage and accessibility. This subtle yet meaningful update reflects the changing needs of workers and the practical design philosophy of the period.
The cuffs feature the simplified Continuous Sleeve construction, replacing the more complex traditional sleeve placket. Designed for greater manufacturing efficiency without sacrificing comfort or mobility, this detail represents the functional refinement of 1950s workwear. Period-correct buttons further complete the authentic appearance with their clean, utilitarian design.
Crafted from Japanese-made 20 × 30 selvedge chambray, the fabric softens beautifully with wear and develops rich fading and character over time.
